Hi!

There is a direct train:

Train 402
Bucuresti Nord 1910 - 0810 Chisinau

It should cost 22€ one way bought in Romania plus reservation for the sleeper (3€ or 5,3€ depending on category - according to CFR). I dont think you can buy the ticket online - better do it directly in Romania. :)

Hey Flo!
Thanks for the advice! Nevertheless, is it possible to buy a ticket some hours before the departure or you have to do it days in advance?

as in about this whole world-on about any line, there are busy and not so busy days. NOOne will ever be able to give a full answer on that.
But if you find that train is full (wich as such is rare, but can happen)-there are scores of 2nd hand and older buses doing the same run-much quikcer, much less comfy and for prices like 15-20€ (note that MOL is out of any IR-area so you always have to pay the extremely low fares in that country)
OR: take nightrain to IASI-still in ROM, get out next morning, open eyes, find some brekkie, and then find the minibus to CHis-many/day-drivers will solicit custom on station. Or-even cheaper-citybus to Border (nicolina)< cross over, then find (have MOLD lei=other as ROM lei ready) a local bus to Chjis-ev 15/20 mins.

Thank you Peter, our host!

I received your reply and I found this older message related to my question. I shall check again railcc page on CFR, with the live hope I shall find the connection Bucharest-Chisinau and a useful link for purchasing tickets.

All the best,

Dan

Hej Dan,

you can simply buy the ticket at a station, for instance at Gara de Nord in Bucuresti. As far as I know you cant buy it online.

According to Mark on seat61 (news from March) this service will cut down to only run every second day.

Does anyone here knows if it will be odd or even days? I am planing of using this service in July, and in order to book other services it would be nice to know which days it runs....

Hi

Just spoked with DB and they can now book on this train. But they could not see any 4-berth 2nd class sleepers.

They found a dubble and a single beth in 2nd class for me (we are 3 persons), but asked 201,50 €.

Do any one here jnow if the price at 22 €+ reservation from the pot in 2011 is still correct, or do anyone know the aprox price as today?

Kind regards

Kim

According to CFR, there are Double sleepers (10,5€) and 4bed couchettes (6€) available - maybe you would have to book the 4bed sleepers as couchettes at DB. In reality these are regular ex-soviet Lux (2bed) and Kupe (4bed) sleepers of course. :)
Double requires 1st class tickets according to CFR: http://www.cfrcalatori.ro/276 (suplimenti pat at the bottom of the page)

Thanks a lot.

The sales agent specific said that there was no couchettes.
When he start talking about dubble ad single, I ask for class, and he said 2nd class. I GUESS he was looking for a dubble and a extra bed in a dubble, but do not know.

Do you know about the tarif for the journey without reservation, so I can calculate the whole price?
I still think 201,50 € for 3 pax i way to much, but do not know for sure...
And to be 100 % excatly: I did not ask for tickets from Bucaresthi, but from Buzau, a station on the line to Chisinau (where we will go in the morning)

Only problem for us is that we will arrive in Romania (Timisoare airport) only a few days before our deaparture for Chisinau, so we need to find a place to buy them... :x

But do you have price information then I will be thankfull

There are 4bed sleepers (Kupe) and 2bed sleepers (Lux) available - these are the standard descriptions for overnight accomodation in the ex-soviet countries (there would also be open-plan couchette cars, called "Platskartny" but these do not run in this train). I dont know what the issue was at DB but I am curious and will try at my local ÖBB station within the next days. :)

Yeah, the 200€ are definitely too expensive. Just buy your ticket locally, it should be no problem at Timisoara station, even if you arrive just a few days earlier.
Alternatively there should also be a daytime connection on the same route with changing at Iasi and Ungheni.
